Switching or Exchanging two rooms!

Photobucket
It all started when I brought these outdoor gnomes inside to sit by the fireplace. I think they worked a spell on me. They gave me a desire to do a switch in my rooms. I moved the dining room into one of the living rooms and moved the living room into the dining room . HAVE YOU EVER DONE A ROOM SWITCH?

Above is what was once the dining area. I have made it a cozy den area.

This is a view of the other side (above).

Notice--on the shelf I spelled Spindle Cottage with the scrabble pieces (it was the gnomes' idea).

Photobucket
Above is now the dining room, but it used to be a living room . There is a fireplace on the right side, not showing in the picture. This is where the gnomes are sitting.

This room can double as a craft room and a computer/laptop area as well as additional seating for eating.

Here (above) is a view from another side--the sunny clock makes me laugh--it makes me think of the Jimmy Dean sausage advertisements.

You can tell which rooms are the same by the wall color. Unfortunately I should have taken them in the same direction!! The 2 before pictures are on the left and the afters are on the right.

So have you done this before????---it is fun. Let me know!

  1. I have never done a room switch like that before but I have certainly changed the way furniture is placed many many times! I love what you have done with your changes though and I think you made some great choices.

Your gnomes are so cute and they look very happy in their new home!

    Best wishes,
    Natasha.

  3. Love it...sometime just moving things around makes for a welcome change in ones home...I used to do that ever so often but,it is harder to manage the furniture these days and no helpers....blessings this Lord's day...

  5. Yes, I did room switches years ago in a rental.

The dining nook was changed into a reading area and the diningroom moved into the familyroom.

I got into one of those moods where it didn't stay that way...the reading area returned to the dining nook and the familyroom returned.

Let me tell you about the kitchen cabinets though...haha.

This was an ongoing thing with me as I was having trouble sleeping.

My family didn't know what they would find in the morning. The drinking glasses were put where?

May you have a sweet week,
    d

  6. Ohh dear what a lot of work having to move all that furniture around! I hope you had some help,Kim. It turned out wonderfully! And I love the arrangement on your shelves, especially the scrabble words, an unusual and creative idea, fit for the best gnomes!

  7. Now that the kids don't need their rooms, we have been contemplating new uses for them. I guess that counts. Your switch looks like fun and both rooms look cozy.

  10. We only have one big room other than bedrooms on the main floor...so no switching possible here. I'm sure it must be fun having a new look!

  11. No I don't really have enough rooms to do a switch. As a matter of fact I rarely even move the furniture around!

What a fun way to get a whole new look!

  13. I am just getting ready for a BIG room switch. I am going to move my large dining room table into one end of my living room and put a smaller table and some other furniture in my dining room. I am far enough along I will have to finish it now!

  14. I think the gnomes were hungry and did not want to sit in the living room, but the dining room instead. That is why they worked their spell on you. Yes, I did do that one time, only with a bedroom and a dining room. I loved the change, it was perfect. Nannykim, I love your sense of humor!
