getting ready for Tablescape Thursday
Getting ready for tablescape Thursday with Susan (click on her name on Thursday to see others who are displaying much more marvelous tablescapes!) . I could have done the above scape.
Do you all know what the above thing is???? Down here in the South we call it a popcorn tree or Chinese Tallow. It turns a beautiful yellow and orange in the Fall and produces these popcorn looking things. Unfortunately it can spread like wildfire!
I could have used my December cup in anticipation of what is coming!! I could have used a nice old vintage napkin and doiley too.
Notice the old glass bottle says snow on it. I got it back in the 70's when I drank milk from it in Japan. The other side is written in Japanese. I thought snow was kind of cool for holding something that was white like snow.
But, naw (translation= nope=no), I was watching a Clemson football game this Saturday instead. ..AND AND I don't mind saying that they slaughtered North Carolina!! But I want to say that I love this teapot. I got it last year from QVC. The only negitive is that you can't put boiling water in it. It has to be 200 degrees or less. I have gotten used to that......AND the tea cup from Rosanna's had become one of my favorites. HOWEVER I chipped it!! I dropped another cup on it yesterday!! I can turn it around and sip from the other side , I guess.
Bishop Boots , the cat, was watching me , watching Clemson. (Oh, of course I was doing a little bit of blogging--multi-tasking , ya know?) Oh and did I say, it is peppermint tea?)
What I love about this teapot is the insert it has for loose tea (below)
All in all it was a splendid day.
And my roses are in agreement ;-)

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. You have such a beautiful home. I love it. I love the little niche with the wicker loveseat and the windows surrounding it. The red and blue are so festive.
I also love the little colorful tray that you have your teapot and cup and saucer on. So cute.
Bishop Boots is the best. Isn't he just the sweetest little thing. Love him.
Thanks for sharing. Country hugs, Sherry
Well, I don't know much about college football but I love both your tablescapes!
ReplyDeleteYou could try setting it up to moderate comments that are on older posts. That way you'll know if some one tries to leave spam on an older one. I get that occasionaly. Then you just choose "don't publish" and no one sees it. You can even set how many days old the posts should be before comment moderation starts. And always make sure you save your settings if you change them, I sometimes forget!
Hugs,
Dawn
I've been thinking about this week's tablescape too. I can't quite decide which direction to take. It has been a strange few days for me-let's just say I've been a klutz and have had lots of time to think (since I can't actually walk around much)!

What a gorgeous home! I love the cushion you have on the wicker piece. I had never heard of a popcorn tree...gorgeous! Your cat is adorable :)
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a giveaway on my blog. I hope you check it out :)
But now what comes on Thursday? You are teasing us.
ReplyDeleteTrue confessions...I threw my back out shaving my legs 2 days ago and then this morning, I slipped on my bathroom tile, fell on my hip and hit my head on the door. Duh. This is not my normal behavior. Both times my husband had just left the house. I thought I was too young for the "I've fallen and I can't get up" thing. I'm fine, my back is still a bit tender but the rest is okay. Thanks for asking:)

Cute post! Both tea cups are sweet. I like to use the Chinese tallow pods in vases around my house. I like the texture and the organic look of these. And they last forever! ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteYour home always shines with warmth no matter what your displaying I enjoy the visit.
ReplyDeleteI Love your tea cups...You did a wonderful job...

What a calming area. I bet you could enjoy your tea all day long while reflecting on so many things. The cup and saucer is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post!! I have been drinking tea all week as I have been under the weather and there is nothing nice than a cup of Earl Grey! When I was in Japan you could get hot tea out of a vending machine. You gave me some ideas about using the ones I brought back. Beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen Chinese Tallow before. It is unusual and interesting. Love that teapot and the cup and saucer. It is all so serene and perfect.
ReplyDeleteSusan
Everything looks so pretty and so inviting. I've never seen that popcorn tree, but it is really neat. What a great teapot. laurie
ReplyDeleteSitting on that wicker settee and drinking tea out of that cute little tea cup would make for a wonderful afternoon... but I would have to pass on the football game :)
ReplyDeleteGreat teapot and gorgeous teacup. What a great way to just sit and pamper yourself with a little treat. It looks gorgeous. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful cozy little tea time!
ReplyDeleteHow inviting, I would be curled up on the wicker with a good book and Bishop Boots to warm my feet! That popcorn tree, is pretty interesting, had never seen it before...nice alone but I bet it would make a good filler with mixed flowers. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely interlude you provided...thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love your setting! I've never seen a popcorn plant! I just adore your little sweet tea tray. What a pretty tea cup and saucer. Your tea pot is so unusual and I just love it!
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell the peppermint tea.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Hah! At first, I thought you had stuck popcorn on some twigs...it looks so much like real popcorn! I've never seen those type of plants. Pretty tea tray and your pics make me think of a cozy afternoon spent sipping tea in your lovely home.

Oh pretty -- I've never seen the popcorn tree -- such a nice setting for tea.
ReplyDeleteYou take beautiful pictures!! I love your December tea cup...so lovely!!!
ReplyDelete:) T
Your photos are very cozy and appealing! I want to come sit with you. Would it be all right if I have coffee? Or cold tea? Never got use to hot tea, although I always liked the idea of drinking it. The containers are always so lovely. I just love these photos!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I'll have to read up on Chinese Tallow/popcorn trees ... interesting. I like the look of your teapot. I don't like for my hot tea to be TOO hot. I think the Japanese have the right idea ... "if you need a handle to hold the cup, it's too hot to drink!"
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Your home looks very inviting ... right down to the kitty on the back of the sofa.
Bye for now,
Bill
Both teas scapes look delightful! I just love a good cup of teas, esp. peppermint! So sorry to hear you chipped your tea cup, but I agree, I'd just drink from the other side, too.
ReplyDeleteOh you asked about my little pokadotted cups from a few weeks ago, I found them at a thrift store in Columbus Ohio.
Happy Thanksgiving... Dee Dee
What a cute post! Your teacups are so pretty and I drink from chipped ones all the time. They are just well loved I say!!
ReplyDeleteYour wicker settee is so darling!
The teapot is so very interesing! I have a friend who got into drinking white tea and I guess it needs a teapot similar to yours -
blessings
and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Kim
ReplyDeleteI loved all your pictures today. Your home is always so warm and charming. I just want to come and visit you! The bay window with the wicker sofa is the perfect spot to have a cup of tea. I don't know about a teapot that can't handle boiling water. That's kind of an oxymoron to me.
Hugs, Rhondi
Your home is so pretty all decorated. And I have that teapot...I LOVE it. I always cut my tea bags into it now, and I do think it makes a difference. I guess my water must not be 200 degrees....I never knew that part! I got mine from Ross!
