Outdoor wednesday

It is going to be outdoor Wednesday so I thought I would show a few things that delighted me this week. To see others doing Outdoor Wednesday go here: http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/

This dragonfly landed on my kitchen window. Notice he has a bug and I watched him eat it! Did you know dragonflies eat mosquitoes too!! I used to think Purple Martins were good for this , but I read that that is false--they don't eat many. But dragonflies do!

I also watched the tail-less squirrel below. He hangs by his feet as shown in another post. He has lived here for a few years.

What does all of this tell you about my home and yard? 1. We do have lots of mosquitoes. 2. We do have lots of acorns and oak trees some of which the squirrels have planted. 3. We do have lots of squirrels (about 9). 4. UNFORTUNATELY the squirrels eat my pears before they ripen!!

  1. I love to watch them, too, Kim! I have a silly one I got some wonderful pictures of this weekend and hope to post soon.

    Enjoyed seeing yours...

  2. P.S. I took care of the bloopers earlier. LOL! And that was very interesting about your journey to find the right church home. :-)

  3. Hahaha... now I'm going to have to stop flinching when a dragonfly zips past me outside -- I will try and remember they are GOOD bugs! I have already taught myself to love the bats . . .

We don't have too many squirrels, but CHIPMUNKS everywhere, and this year they are dining well on my tomatoes. ACK!

  4. We love seeing dragonflies around in the mid-west because they eat mosquitoes. Nice post.

  5. Kim, isn't it funny we both posted about dragonflies? Ha! Ha! I've seen more this year than at any other time. Glad we have them!
    Have a great week!

  6. Hiya!
I am actually selling the Bates (Martha Washington) chenille bedspread on eBay :)
I was just purging--hadn't sorted yet!
How curious--a tailless squirrel! I personally love squirrels- I wouldn't mind if they ate the fruit off any of our trees, if we had some fruit trees :)
    Hugs to you sweet thang!

  7. I haven't seen many dragonflies yet this year. I have never seen a squirrel without a tail. We have a couple of squirrels that visit our back yard but our dog loves to chase them off, just for fun.

  8. We have a pond in the back fields that my children love to go and catch frogs and dragon flies. How neat to watch one up close.
