This is for Metamorphisis Monday. I happened to find this tarnished silver bowl at Salvation Army this week for $4.50. I remember Bill from Affordable Accoutrements bragging about how Wright's Silver polish does such a smashing job. I rubbed it a bit with my finger and thought," hmmmm--I think it will work...I will buy it and try it! " This is what it looked like.
Below is how it looked after I polished it. The only black you see is the reflection of my black top I was wearing!
Below is the place where it shines to its hearts content. (lower left)
I like this picture below because it cought so many reflections! There was the reflection from the glass of the hutch and the reflection off of the silver and so forth--very cool to see what you can see in it all!
YOur bowl is just gorgeous. I love it. I have a lot of silver and I am always so amazed at the beautiful reflections. It lo0oks beautiful in your china cabinet. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteWOW!
ReplyDeleteAgain I say W O W !!!
Just love these bargains that polish up so nicely.
Nice post,

That Wright's realy does an amazing job! It looks fabulous! I am having a welcome fall party to celebrate the first day of fall and I'd love it if you joined in the fun. You can read about it on my blog.

I don't know if I ever told you this but my favorite thing is lace curtains blowing when the window is open. I wanted ask you, can you see a difference in your electric bill washing your dises by hand? I was thinking about trying it. I only use the dishwasher about 3 times a week.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed week,

It is a gorgeous piece, and a great find!
ReplyDeleteThat comment just made me laugh out loud :)
You are funny

Very Nice! That turned out great. My platter was not real silver so I didn't feel bad about painting over it. Now if I found something like yours I would definitely have to try the Wrights silver polish.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and leaving your comment.
What a lovely bowl. I,too, like the shiny instead of the tarnished. It looks fabulous in your hutch.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done! It's a lovely piece, and you found the perfect spot in your charming home to display it! It was kind of you to mention my blog in your post. It wasn't necessary, but thank you! ;)
ReplyDeleteIn your comment on my post about filing down chipped rims on crystal, you asked about files. I just went in a store that sells supplies for beauty shops (I think the public can go into any of them ... just have to show a license if you're eligible to get discounts, tax exemptions ... something like that). I bought two or three different "grits." I found one that had four types on one board (two on each side), but it wore out quickly. If you try it, it's important to focus on the top edge; if you file against the smooth side of the glass, it will leave scrapes that won't polish out.
Hope you have a great week!
Regards,
Bill
NIce polished job ! I always look for silver ....very pretty piece !

Love silver things and it's always nice to find a bargain.
ReplyDeleteGreat find! It looks beautiful in the cabinet. The curtains blowing in the breeze make me want to sit on the porch with a glass of iced tea.
ReplyDeleteFYI - you asked about the leather chair in my son's room - our cat left many scratches in leather furniture with her rear claws.
Have a fab day!
Wow! You turned that into a beauty! Good work.
ReplyDeleteOops, I know I already posted, but I wanted to thank you for sharing your inspirational schooling story about your son. I loved reading it! Much appreciated...
ReplyDeleteLove your new bowl.....I just saw your comment over at snap pea... and yes my cat loves my leather chair...lots of little claw marks in our lazy boy leather recliner....Hope this helps...
