It is tablescape Thursday --to see more go here to between naps on the porch.
We like to sit in front of these windows and watch the walkers pass by as we eat. We have these little lights up in the picture molding in the ceiling that give the room a nice atmosphere in the evening--the photo does not quite get it right! We eat in various places in the house, but in the summer this is one of our favorite places
My hubby purchased these mikasa plates at an antique store on a business trip to Atlanta. He has never done anything like this for me and I was flabbergasted! MORE dishes from my HUBBY--wow....and he went in an antique shop without me!! YIKES! I placed some petals from our carpet roses which have done wonderfully out doors (unfortunately so have the mosquitoes ---note: I try to fit mosquitoes in whenever I can, ha!))
I again used my favorite depression glasses of pink with green at the base
My hubby hadn't yet mixed his salmon and basil pesto.......it was delicious. HMMM-I notice he got the wrong plate for his bread!!!!!! AH WELL THIS IS REAL LIFE!! (Oh , and he is left handed so I get to reverse the way the setting goes for him, right? RIGHT.
My first visit to your cottage -- a lovely place. Love your little table for two in front of the windows and how sweet of your husband -- those plates are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteInviting and tasty looking dinner, not to mention healthy. Pretty tablescape. You also gave me a dinner idea.
ReplyDeleteOH I love your tablescape. YOur dishes are such a beautiful pattern, what a treasure and how wonderful that your DH surprised you with them. Your menu looks fabulous too. Very inviting. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteLove your little table for two by the windows! We do the same type of thing here at our house and love it! Your DH picked out some wonderful dishes and what a delicious looking meal. Could I pull up a chair and squeeze in on the side? LOL!

This table setting is really delightful. I especially like the glassware. Is it vintage or new? Dinner looks absolutely delicious!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable little cottage! You are right...cottages tend to get crowded..but yours looks only cozy. Now..MINE is crowded! Such a sweet tablescape. I love it!
ReplyDeleteDinner looks delicious! What a nice husband to surprise you with dishes ... and from an antique shop at that!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see your beautiful vintage glassware again. I'm a lefty too, and I can never quite decide where to put my glass (sometimes it changes sides during the meal).
I loved the "wrong bread plate" being in the picture. It made it real ... and fun! Nice post!
Regards,
Bill

Great Hubby! Love the dishes and the candle light, and the rose petals and your home!
ReplyDeleteNo, My Hubby did not work at Coca Cola Company, he was just given the machines from different people. They all love him out here in the country. He does a lot for other people and they knew he loved the machines.
Hi Kim!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog and your sweet comments! Your tablescape is very romantic & I can totally see enjoying an early evening meal with people walking by. Your depression glass is beautiful. And beautiful of your hubby to buy the Mikasa for YOU!
Tulsa is pretty! Glad that you are loving North Carolina {I think you said North??} I traveled there for the fabric market a few years ago and really thought it was great. That particular area is charming and the trees are gorgeous.
Also, you beautifully communicate your spirituality. Very moving & inspiring. :D

ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous weekend...
Jane (artfully graced)
What a romantic dinner/table. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by to see me at Evangeline's Vine (my other blog). I wanted to tell you that those 'things' in the vase are called "Chinese Lanterns". They're silk/fake and from Michaels. I had no idea what they were called either but I did have a comment from someone who told me that's what they are. Who knew? lol
Have a fabulous weekend!
Roeshel
South Carolina!!! ;)

Love your table - the rose petals make it so romantic! You asked about my table runner on my blog and yes it is paper! I have been very lucky and it has lasted several years. It is made in Germany and is call Transpatex or something similar. The tea shop which used to carry them is no longer in business and I can't find these runners anywhere else - even on the internet. :D Jewel
ReplyDeleteA wonderful table you've set and I can see why you would love to dine at such a lovly spot.
ReplyDeleteI love this cozy and romantic table! I wish I could pop right on over. :)
ReplyDeleteThe china is beautiful! So sweet of your dh to surprise you with such a nice gift!
