Met Monday --a shining for October 5

It is met monday at Susan's --so go there to see more changes or metamorphoses

Well--I had some interesting finds when on vacation in the Mountains of NC. I found a large covered silver bowl that I have begun using for the serving of soup. I have a glass container that inserts into this and it works wonderfully. On the left below you see where I have polished and on the right where I haven't. This was buried in a dark hole in an antique shop and it was quite tarnished!!

Below is the finished shining!

Also some silver shakers--the left is the after and the right is the before. However where there was scotch tape I couldn't get the sticky stuff off so it didn't polish as well! I tried rubbin alcohol to get the tape off and soaking in hot water--nothing worked (I don't have a dishwasher).

Lastly is where my "soup bowl" is residing !

That is a preview of a future tablescape ;-)

  1. They are beautiful finds...lucky you...and you have such patience to give them such a great shine! If the sticky residue from tape doesn't come off, you might try Goo B Gone...sometimes even vegetable oil works

  19. Hey there! I appreciate your visit to my place, you have a lovely cottage. What great finds - so fun to find things that need a loving touch. In answer to your question, an upholstery staple gun uses much finer staples than the staple guns from the hardware store. Our new one has an extra long "nose" for tough to reach spaces. It attaches to Hubby's air compressor, made the job go super fast.

  20. Wow what a difference all shined up makes, just beautiful.
For my plate, I cut out designed scrapbook paper, as well as used some rub ons, and some scrapbooking stickers and modge podged them on.

Oh and my hubby and I do look like bro and sis don't we? LOL, I guess you can imagine what our baby girl looks like, no guessing on what our kids will look like. :)

  21. Hello. Gorgeous silver! You came by my bathroom post and asked about the floors. Well, yes, they're just like any othe vinyl floor. Just treat them the same way. Sorry I took so long to get back. Right after I posted, I caught some major cold or flu. I never responded to anyone that came by. I'm just now coming back to life.LOL.
