Tablescape Thursday for October 8, 09

I gave a preview of my tablescape on Met monday...so here is the whole thing. Go to Susan's for more.

Above you see the soup silver dish that we all love. I purchased it for ten bucks when it was black! It polished up sooooo nicely. We had some nice fall soup at this meal! Below is a shot taken through my laundry room window (Ha!) of the little eating nook.

Above is the shot of the same nook at night through our little hallway door. Below you can see the ruby glasses we found at the same antique shop (note: not the ruby tea light holders!)

Above you can see the salt and pepper shakers we found at the same shop.

Above you see some old linen napkins I found on ebay and the silver and something (bronze or copper?) napkin rings which I also purchased for dirt cheap from the antique shop--they were black!! Just needed polish.

It is fun (above) to put cheapo casual stuff with the silver stuff! I love the old soup spoons that belonged to my mom.

We added a few more candles

Thank you for your comments on my blog. To answer you ?'s, a Canadian Thanksgiving meal usually consists of roast turkey with stuffing and gravy and mashed potatoes. Vegetables and salads can vary.Lots of people make some kind of brussel sprouts type recipe. My Mom likes to make butternut squash soup (Yummy!). And for dessert, tradition is usually pumpkin pie or apple pie. You asked what colour is on my walls and it is called Toffee Cream which was from Home Hardware a few years back.

P.S. - Mercury glass is vintage shiny glass, but they are now recreating it now, so I guess it is "faux mercury glass!"

  14. Beautiful table with the silver and the tablecloth. I love finding old siver in antique store, wondering where it has been and who it belonged to. Love your house, like the way you have the shelf over you fireplace mantle, eye catching.

  24. Hello Nannykim! I really like the setting of this table in front of the fireplace and that great wall!! Very pretty. The candlelight is so lovely.
You asked about where I live...I know I can tend to confuse people. Currently most days I live in Southern Calif. in a little condo while my hubby is working down here. We kept our home on the Eastside of Lake Washington and spend as much time as we can there (vacations and holidays). We aren't too far from Microsoft :0)

  38. I'm just now getting around to answering questions from last week's post! Our tablescape and party planning workshop was a part of a women's health conference - almost 500 women attended ... I had 70 in my workshop. It was held in a community college ... and I was in the music/band room ... because the seating was tiered and everybody could see the tables, which were set up in the well! We had a great time ... lots of work ... but lots of fun!
